Barnet Mencap’s Data Protection Policy was last reviewed following the General Data Protection Regulations, which were introduced in 2018. Barnet Mencap promises to look after your information safely and securely and will only use it for the reason it was provided.
We will only collect information with your permission and will take extra care of it, following the Data Protection Act 2018, GDPR requirements in 2018 and our own policies. We understand that people have more rights under GDPR and will respect that you now have:

- the right of access to personal information
- the right to rectification if information is inaccurate or incomplete
- the right to “be forgotten” unless there is a legal reason for holding your information

We will never pass your details onto another person or another organisation without gaining your consent first. However, we may need to share information about you if we are required to do so by law e.g. HMRC requirements or following Health and Safety or safeguarding incidents.

You can choose to stop electronic marketing and communications at any time by sending an ‘opt-out’ reply to our messages.
