Activities at Home

We know staying indoors during lockdown can be boring, so we want to make sure we're doing all we can to keep people entertained during this difficult time.

We will update this page regularly, as well as our Facebook page and YouTube page, with more activities and things to do - so check back regularly!

We can't offer our usual wide range of leisure and learning and sports and fitness activities at the moment, but we hope to be able to soon. We are offering a wide range of online sessions, which are available to everybody.

Fancy learning a new skill? Learn basic Makaton in this weekly series - lots of episodes now up!

Fancy learning how to make some delicious treats in the kitchen? Check out our cookery playlist to learn how to make treats like Iced Tea and Cream Cheese Ice Cream!

Fancy a laugh? Watch Jokes with Simon, one of our service users, now!

We know lockdown has been tough for everybody, so we're checking in and speaking to some of our service users to see how they've found it. Find out how David has been getting on, and find out how it has been for a carer.

Chickenshed Theatre are putting lots of their performances online for the first time, as well as one-off live sessions - take a look at their website for the full schedule!

Getting Crafty!

We've asked our COPs members to send us their Barnet Mencap-themed artwork. We'll pick one of these to make into a jigsaw puzzle! To download the template, please click here.

Staying in shape!

We are happy to be able to offer some face-to-face activities again.

We are excited that the Mill Hill Project Rugby sessions are back from Tuesday 6th April and running every Tuesday. We are also excited that Joe Healy from Mill Hill will be donating his time to put on extra Rugby sessions for our COPs members from 10th May!

Struggling to stay in shape at home? Try our Martial Arts session with Sensei Kevin!

Fancy learning a K-Pop dance routine? Check out our video with Darianne now!

Head to our YouTube page to see our exercise videos - an Upper Body Workout with Phil and a Lower Body Workout with Phil!

Whilst our Curtains Up and Showdown dance and drama groups aren't running at Finchley Youth Centre at the moment, they are offering a whole host of online sessions instead, including Drama on Mondays and Musical Theatre classes every Friday - check out their flyer here! Head to their website now for more info and to sign up!

Missing our Martial Arts sessions? Our martial arts instructor is putting up regular workout videos to his YouTube channel.

Our Yoga instructor, Janette Brazil, is offering free yoga sessions through Zoom. These will take place on the last Sunday of every month, 11-11:50. The first session will take place on 31st May - to sign up, email Janette on yoga4carers@hotmail.com

We are still offering telephone support and some one-to-one support. If you require either of these services please contact Project Support via projectsupport@barnetmencap.org.uk or ring 020 8349 3842.

We will provide updates when we receive advice that will change what we are able to offer.
